The reason I began making my own candles was to enjoy great scents without ensure filling my home with potential toxins like lead, paraffins, phthalates, or parabens that are found in most candles.
Think soy candles are healthy? I surely did, for years! My research revealed that in order for a candle to be declared a "soy candle", it can contain up to 49% paraffin - in other words, if it is at least 50% soy, any other inexpensive substitutes may be added.
My candles are more expensive than those you find in Bath and Body/Home Decor stores, simply because I am choosing some of the most costly yet safest wax options available. I use a clean-burning coconut-apricot wax that burns smoothly and disperses scent without releasing toxic soot.
